Dear Panther Family,
It was incredible to see such a great turnout at the groundbreaking ceremony for our new Georgia State University Research Tower, located off Decatur Street in the heart of our downtown Atlanta campus. The great energy and excitement from everyone in attendance made it clear just how significant this milestone was, not only for Georgia State, but for the future of research in our region.
This state-of-the-art, 155,000-square-foot facility aligns with the university’s placemaking pillar of our strategic plan, BluePrint to 2033, by creating an ideal place to bring our research community together. The GSU Research Tower will feature laboratories and flexible research and teaching spaces. Set to be completed in 2026, this facility will serve as a hub for idea generation, innovation, collaboration, and education.
A special thank you to (from left to right in the photo above) Jian-Dong Li, Director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences; Jared Abramson, GSU Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; GSU First Lady Dr. Bridget Blake; Marty Kemp, First Lady of Georgia; Gov. Brian Kemp; GSU President M. Brian Blake; Sonny Perdue, Chancellor of the University System of Georgia; Jon Burns, Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives; Nicolle Parsons-Pollard, GSU Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs; T. Dallas Smith; Chairman of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and Donald Hamelberg, GSU Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Additionally, thank you to our Deans and the Panther community for attending. Your support is appreciated and plays a vital role in bringing this vision to life.
All the best,
