Dear Panther Family,
It was my pleasure to attend The University System of Georgia’s Artificial Intelligence Summit (AI Summit), an innovative event filled with dynamic conversations and collaborations that explored AI’s role in education and workforce development.
In attendance were top leaders from the USG and its 26 institutions, as well as influential members of the public and private sector. As a computer scientist, my appreciation for AI stems from its ability to aid in solving complex problems in ways that were once unimaginable. AI is a revolutionary tool that can be used to enhance creativity, accelerate research, and transform entire industries. It is transforming the educational experience on all levels, from primary school to institutions of higher education. One of the primary goals of the 2-day AI Summit was to highlight how AI can be integrated into education to bridge the gap between our curricula and the demands of the workforce.
Ranked the #2 Most Innovative University and the #1 Best Public University for Undergraduate Teaching in the nation by U.S. News & World Report 2024, Georgia State University is committed to providing our students with the best education in the latest technology and innovations. In today’s rapidly changing job market, we know it is vital to support our students, who are the next generation of professionals, in staying ahead of technological trends. The support they have at GSU is specifically designed to adequately equip them to thrive in their career.
The Beyond College to Career pillar of our strategic plan, Blueprint to 2033: Our Place, Our Time, highlights our focus to provide students with hands on learning experiences to prepare them to launch into their chosen career. GSU offers our students an array of opportunities to learn more about AI across multiple areas of the university such as the College of Arts and Sciences, the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, and The Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Online Education.
AI will be a central part of the future as the world becomes increasingly more digital. AI educational events like the AI Summit provide the perfect opportunity for instruction and growth. This type of event is essential to the progress of university leaders and students alike. I would like to extend a special thank you to USG for organizing this significant and informative event and to Georgia Tech for hosting on your campus.
All the best,
