Dear Panther Family,
As May rolls in a wave of college commencement ceremonies nationwide, among these notable achievers is the spring, Class of 2024 at Georgia State University. With thousands of Georgia State graduates who received their associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degrees, I’m so incredibly proud of them all!
This semester’s commencement carries an additional layer of significance. The university awarded an honorary doctorate in Business Administration at the commencement ceremony for our J. Mack Robinson College of Business, to Regynald Washington, a distinguished leader in the hospitality industry and a dedicated philanthropist.
This prestigious recognition highlights not only Washington’s remarkable career, but also his commitment to making a positive impact beyond the confines of his industry. The decision to confer an honorary doctorate upon Washington reflects Georgia State’s commitment to honoring individuals who embody the university’s core values of excellence, integrity, and service. Regynald contributed a significant personal gift to the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration. Due to his generous donation, the School named the Regynald G. Washington Master of Global Hospitality Management program in his honor.
As I applaud the accomplishments of Regynald Washington and celebrate the achievements of the university’s graduating class, it is essential to recognize the collective efforts that made these achievements possible. Behind every degree conferred and every accolade received, there are countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, determination, and supporters along the way.
As each graduate embarks on the next chapter of their lives, may they carry the lessons learned and the memories they made at Georgia State.
All the best,
