Dear Panther Family,
Andrea Jones, vice president for Public Relations and Marketing Communication, shared with me last week the bittersweet news that she will be stepping down to join the University of North Florida as vice president for Marketing and Communications. Andrea has directed and led Georgia State’s communications and marketing initiatives for more than 15 years through some of the most dynamic years of the university’s history.
After proving to be a vital partner during my first several months at GSU, as one of my first appointments, I was delighted to elevate Andrea to the role of vice president for Public Relations and Marketing Communications in December 2021. In her prior role, she served as director of media relations and then associate vice president for the division. Since that time, Andrea has been a valued member of the leadership team.
During her time at Georgia State, Andrea and her team built strong internal and external awareness of the university goals and direction, and she implemented successful processes and systems to coordinate marketing collaboration across the university.
Andrea worked to elevate the reputation of the university as the national model for student success, helped develop The State Way — the university’s brand — and spearheaded bold advertising initiatives, including the ongoing university branding campaign at the T-Gate in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Andrea is well known and respected among local and national media, and she and her team have won numerous awards for their marketing and communications efforts.
Andrea will join the University of North Florida in early June and has committed to working with our leadership team to plan an effective transition and to provide guidance for interim leadership.
Please join me in congratulating Andrea. Like me, many of you will miss her as a colleague and friend. Please take time over the next few months to join me in wishing the very best to her in this new chapter in her career.
Sincerely,
